This development in the Pudong district of Shanghai is intended to be a world class R&D center focusing on the semi-conductor industry. The project consists of 4.5 million sm of residential, office, retail, hotel, entertainment and R&D uses.

The site is organized along a park that will connect future developments to the east and west. Pedestrian streets and access roads are layered across the park, focusing vehicles along the perimeter and creating primary entry points at opposing ends of the park. Convenient bicycle and pedestrian-oriented amenities in close proximity to a light rail hub to the east promote public transportation.

The design of the buildings and master plan strives to integrate technology and environment in various ways. Inspiration is drawn from the semi-conductor industry, which is an inherently sustainable approach to electronics design. Semi-conductors are developed from natural materials such as sand, metals and insulators in a manner that focuses on minimizing infrastructure and power demands by layering and networking various uses. Circuit boards, therefore, are in some ways similar to complex urban contexts. This metaphor provides a branded identity to the overall architecture while layering humanistic and environmental qualities that integrate the development into the surrounding context and culture.
