Banking Firm HQ

Distinguished Building Award Submission

This project is for an addition to a downtown Bank headquarters in Charlotte North Carolina. It consists of an extension to an existing upper level interior civic space, ground floor retail, meeting spaces, and office space. The project is sited between an existing parking structure, a new hotel done by another architect, and the existing Bank Headquarters tower. This project is a multilevel connective urban infill which activates the street level while also extending the existing upper level atrium across a street to connect to an existing atrium.

The new civic space provides breakout spaces for the office and hotel as well as acting as a connective urban space. Street level access to the “urban garden” is through a public exterior pocket park containing a water feature and retail. The office space is flexible open plan space enclosed with glass planes which are revealed at two corners to enclose a series of 3 story “sky gardens” which provide environment for impromptu gatherings and team meetings.
