Rolex Tower

Distinguished Building Award Submission

Rolex Tower is a 59-story commercial and residential building situated on Sheik Zayed Road, one of the most prominent streets in Dubai. Like a fine Rolex timepiece, the tower’s design is classic and elegant, standing as a quiet neighborhood among the exuberance of Sheik Zayed Road. The building is veiled in a high-performance curtain wall of fritted green glass which fades as it ascends, further expressing the height of the tower and providing shade from the sun, crucial in Dubai’s desert climate. Both commercial and residential programs are incorporated into the tower, including 30 floors of office space, 25 floors of apartments, and two residential penthouses on the building’s uppermost floors. A 9-story parking garage and entrance plaza located behind the tower provides direct access to the building. The tower’s architects also designed portions of the interiors, including both the commercial and residential ground floor lobbies. A sculptural installation by artist James Clar called “Soundwave”, which is an interpretation of the artist’s voice saying the word “Rolex”, adds a sense of intrigue to the commercial lobby. Through tasteful luxury and quiet minimalism, Rolex Tower is setting a new standard for high-end development throughout the Middle East and beyond.
