Washington DC Townhouse Renovation

Washington DC, N/A / United States of America

The owners wanted an “entertainment kitchen,” a room at the back of the house that engages the backyard and lets in loads of natural light, a mudroom with lockers, and a larger pantry. Upstairs they wanted an organization system for their copious board games, a new powder room for their family room, a true master suite with separate water closet, ample storage throughout (especially for her shoes), new AC and PV systems, all while undoing the 80’s remuddle, complementing the character of the original architecture which they love, and enhancing their investment.

Care was taken to update all structures, including massive damage by termite-tian plumbers, and systems while adhering to the architectural style and achieving the desired program. A new Parlor lets in the yard and the daylight, the new Kitchen provides a Bar area and entertainment island. The Butler’s Pantry expands storage by a factor of 10. The new 2nd floor Powder Room provides separate facilities for visitors while the Game Area has been tamed. The Master Suite has been reconfigured for more privacy as a true retreat and with storage throughout the “his” and “hers” closets. The Master Bath is replete with a shower beneath a skylight.
