RSIP Program Description: The Residential Sound Insulation Program is a City of Chicago project for abatement of sound levels in buildings surrounding O'Hare and Midway Airports. Groupings of 500 or more homes at one time and multi-unit buildings are assessed for sound transmission and construction modifications prepared for bidding and construction. The work includes homes surveys (inventories) with an acoustical technician, preparation of the construction modifications (bidding docs), field measurements and construction administration after contracts are awarded. Architectural Technician Position Description: This is a very visible and politically important position and program. Details of the position are as follows: Nature of work: Home surveys; AutoCAD Construction Documents; Construction Administration Team: Work with other Architects, Architectural Technicians & Sound Technicians as well as with the CDA Program Manager. RADA Architects has a Supervisor to whom this position reports. Other requirements: An RSIP Architectural Technician is required to have a valid driver's license and a car available for travel to project sites. Position Challenges: Work with multiple sites, interface with homeowners and the many team members. Tasks can get repetitive. Position requires good communication and good organizational skills. Position Advantages: Obtain Construction Administration experience that entry-level to which architects do not normally get exposed. This is an excellent opportunity to work independently and to prove yourself. You will obtain technical knowledge about construction, sound insulation, putting together construction documents, specifications, and working within a large multidisciplinary team.
