Project Engineer

We are an Owner's Representative firm specializing in high-end residential construction projects seeking a Project Engineer. For more than 20 years, our firm has provided essential services to clients throughout the entire construction process, resulting in a stellar reputation for advising Owners of distinctive properties across the country.


Project Engineers in our firm are budding construction professionals who are inquisitive, motivated to evolve and possess an aggressive work ethic. They have been exposed to many facets of construction, been actively involved in the paperwork and operations of a project and are eager to demonstrate their readiness for the next challenge and more responsibility. They are also self-starters for whom attention to detail, thoughtful problem solving, and tight organizational skills are established. Professionalism, succinct oral and written communication skills, discretion, and the ability to function in a team environment are their strengths.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

Project Administration

• Work hand in hand with a Project Manager to take projects from start to finish

• Manage smaller owner consultants

• Prioritize project tasks and deadlines

• Hold internal and external teams accountable to deadlines and commitments

• Author and edit meeting minutes

• Manage data with construction project management software

Schedule Management

• Maintain intimate knowledge of tasks, sequence, milestones and critical path events

• Communicate with site superintendent to monitor construction progress

• Forecast delays in timing, materials or resources

• Track long lead time items

• Track RFIs and submittals

Financial Responsibilities

• Review invoices, pay applications and change orders to assure pricing is accurate, fair and comprehensive

• Work with Construction Analyst to maintain accurate records and files

• Qualify scopes and pricing of General Contractor, subs and consultants

• Facilitate contract execution, waivers, and certificates of insurance

Quality Assurance

• Perform inspections, recognize defects, and recommend remediation for key aspects of construction

• Coordinate all site photography and as-built record keeping


Required qualifications:

• 5 or more years of experience that demonstrates the skills above

• Work experience within a professional office environment

• Field experience as a tradesperson, field engineer or field manager

• Degree in building or construction management, architecture, or engineering

• Full time access to a car and reside in the Chicagoland area

• Willingness to travel both locally and out of state
