Position Overview The BECx Provider role at dbHMS is an excellent opportunity for a technical architect or engineer with a passion for putting buildings together and understanding how building skin components behave in practice. The successful candidate will be mentored and grow to become an integral part of our skin consulting practice in our Chicago office. Candidate will work in a team with a licensed architect and certified commissioning agents to expand design review and modeling tools, field observation and testing practices, and enclosure consulting management skills. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5+years of experience with specific knowledge and project track record in the evaluation, investigation, commissioning, and design of building enclosure components and assemblies on new and existing structures. A strong candidate will have a scientific mind set, an intense desire to get it right, attention to detail, and a strong determination to drill down in construction methods and material characteristics. Essential Job Functions • Demonstrate responsibility analyzing and solving skin design issues • Construction administration and field testing • Writing specifications • Oversight of working drawing detailing • Read and understand construction documents, floor plans, and equipment details • Manage detailed evaluation of complicated building systems • Provide technical services and management for sustainable design assistance projects • Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure writing quality and analysis rigor, and accurate, clear technical comments • Multitask between several projects that are at various stages in the construction process • Communicate effectively in written and verbal correspondence Requirements • Minimum Education: Bachelors of Science in Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or Engineering • Strong writing ability and concise communication skills • Project Management Experience Other Skills/Abilities • Knowledge of THERM, WUFI, and other types of computer analyses • Involvement in building enclosure and building sciences professional organizations • Fundamental knowledge of building MEP systems and how these systems are impacted by building enclosures • Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Sketchup Desired Certifications (NOT REQUIRED) • BECxP • CxA+BE • CxA • HERS Rater • PE • AIA • NCARB • CEM
