You will work closely with the Technical Director of an award-winning architecture firm on Chicago’s north shore. The firm primarily specializes in high-end residential, but also provides architectural services for commercial and educational facilities. The role is focused on developing and advancing the overall technical quality of construction drawings and coordinating other various project-related issues, including but not limited to: zoning, building codes, building permits, ADA compliance, LEED, drawing and construction standards, risk management and product specifications. Success will be measured not only by the overall quality of the firm’s technical drawings, but also by the proper guidance and technical development of the Architectural staff members.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

· Review and redline construction drawings for quality control and coordination

· Improve efficiency of our office’s drawing production

· Help manage the reduction of risk in our contract documents

· Coordinate building access and scheduling for existing building measurement & drawing documentation.

· Act as a source of information for technical details and product information (including research on new products and educational programs for the firm at large)

· Act as a liaison between our firm and a multitude of municipal building departments during the pre-design phase for code/zoning research and for obtaining building permits

· Improving and maintaining an up-to-date Autocad detail library

· Providing leadership and guidance to younger members of the Architecture staff on their technical learning development

· Guide and oversee consultant coordination (in concert with Project Managers)

· Research and stay on top of current sustainable building practices



· Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture

· 10+ years of experience in architectural practice

· LEED Certification a +

· Experience with AutoCad, Rhino or Revit, Bluebeam Revue, Excel

· Competent knowledge of Chicago building codes and building construction standards

· Highly motivated to learn

· Interpersonal skill set and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
