Architectural Intern (Hourly Position)

The Architectural Intern will assist with project implementation from schematic design through construction administration; including coordination with clients, contractors, and consultants. A strong interest in Corporate and Retail design is preferred and will be rewarded with a wide assortment of projects and clients. The ideal candidate would be in their final year of design school and able to work between 20-30 hours during the week. This position has the potential to become a full-time/permanent position in the spring of 2018.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with colleagues for the design of the project
  • Complete and/or assists in project code review
  • Develop, check, and coordinate technical aspects of the design of a project
  • Assist with the construction documentation process
  • Follow established standards for project production and review
  • Keep Project Managers and Principals informed of progress or need for assistance
  • Attend project meetings during construction to ensure design compliance


  • Minimum of 3 years completed at an accredited design school
  • Strong organization skills
  • Experience developing Construction Documents for bid, permit, and construction
  • Experience with Construction Administration
  • Working knowledge of Chicago Building Codes and International Building Codes preferred
  • Strong 3D modeling, graphics, presentation, rendering, and communications skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite Programs: InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator preferred
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD software programs
  • Proficiency in Revit preferred
