Lamar Johnson Collaborative (LJC) is looking to hire an Accounting Manager to join our team in Chicago.

Role Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements, quarterly forecasts, and annual profit plans
  • Serve as a key member of the LJC leadership, providing business intelligence and guidance on financial investment, internal controls and strategies to optimize performance on key indicators
  • Partner with LJC clients, enterprise leaders and colleagues to assure alignment of goals
  • Provide strategic direction to the LJC accounting team and develops the team's individual skills and capabilities
  • Stay abreast of industry trends by remaining connected to leaders in other firms and by actively engaging in appropriate community and professional associations
  • Maintain and oversee all accounting procedures and processes
  • Follow and comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
  • Record and research all financial information for analysis
  • Oversee budget reports, preparation of budgets, and analysis of budgets
  • Document and interpret complicated financial information for project managers, studio leaders and executives
  • Advise on the procedures and financial management as well as developing policies
  • Oversee financial reports for taxes, regulatory agencies, and other financial groups relating to company finance
  • Audit firm’s accounting and finance functions
  • Forecast and plans according to fiscal needs
  • Lead Deltek implementation program and development of data visualization tools



  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business with an emphasis in accounting
  • Previous experience as an accountant, accounting supervisor, or manager
  • Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, data visualization
  • Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation a plus
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining general ledgers and preparing financial statements, including knowledge of SFAS Rules
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strength in presentation
  • Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations
  • Pays strict attention to detail and deadlines
  • Ability to manage employees, while multi-tasking large projects
  • Five years of project accounting experience with Deltek Vision and/or similar platform in architecture, construction or engineering
