Functional Objects by Architects (FOBA)
In conjunction with the 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial, AIA Chicago presents a pop-up exhibition of Functional Objects by Architects (FOBA).
What is FOBA?
FOBA is a pop-up exhibition at the Chicago Design Museum's CHICAGO DESIGN MARKET. AIA Chicago has transformed one storefront on the third floor of the Block37 shopping center into a gallery inspired by the concept of open storage. The 27 individual objects on display were designed and submitted by AIA Chicago members ranging from Fellows to AIAS student members, showcasing a range of talents from furniture design to textiles and lifestyle accessories.
Recognizing the contributions that architects and designers make in the commercial, private and institutional worlds, it became important to showcase smaller-scale projects that are tactile, aesthetically intriguing and grounded in utility.
