About Us

Master and Commander is a multi-disciplinary firm offering a cohesive practice of architecture and planning. The scope of our services include feasibility studies, planning and programming, architectural design, handicap accessibility design, preparation of contract documents and construction administration for new and existing buildings. Good, responsible design and construction practice is the essence of our work. Particular importance is given to establishing a close working relationship with our clients and contractors, creating a cooperative creative spirit, being sensitive to budgetary restrictions and adhering to time schedules. As the firm eclipses its twenty first year anniversary we have embarked on the Architect led Design Build method of project delivery. Master and Commander, is also engaged in building working relationships with leaders and institutions in the West, and South side communities of Chicago. Our ultimate goal is to work on projects that foster economic development in various Chicago communities and beyond. Working with citizens and institutions in the community, we are promoting partnership opportunities with investors within and outside our community. Currently we are in various phases on several projects in select Chicago communities, in addition to suburban and regional locales, and states. These projects will be considered engines of growth and opportunity for the areas to be served, that include job training, employment, and innovations. A major objective of each project and development is to retain existing businesses within the footprint of the site; and provide or promote principles of sustainability for the future.
