The Community Interface Committee is pleased to offer the opportunity to volunteer at the Inspiration Cafe, located in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. The Cafe provides restaurant-style meals to homeless or poor men, women, and families in a therapeutic community that promotes dignity and respect. All meals are cooked and served by volunteers.
The opportunity is for 2-3 volunteer cooks and 6 volunteer servers for dinner. The responsibilities of the two roles are outlined below. Note that cooks and servers have different volunteer times.
Cooks: You will arrive at 4pm and stay until 7pm. The duties include assisting with meal preparation, preparing made-to-order meals for each guest, and having the opportunity to enjoy a meal with the guests once everyone has been served.
Servers: You will arrive at 5:30pm and stay until 7:30pm. The duties include greeting guests when they arrive, serving drinks, taking orders, delivering orders, clearing dishes, and having the opportunity to enjoy a meal with the guests once everyone has been served.
More detailed instructions will be provided once volunteers are confirmed. Volunteer positions are limited - sign up today to secure your ability to participate!
