One reference noted: "Alzira is more than just a designer. She is a resourceful and creative problem-solver who contributes throughout all phases of design, including detailing and construction, as a talented architect and advocate for design excellence."
The Young Architect Award was established in 1983 by the AIA Chicago Foundation, to recognize excellence in ability and exceptional contributions by Chicago area architects between the ages of twenty-five and thirty-nine or licensed 10 or fewer years. In 2003, the Young Architect Award was renamed the Dubin Family Young Architect Award, due to the generosity of the late M. David Dubin, FAIA, his family and friends, who have endowed the honor with a cash prize.
