Heidi Wang, AIA and John Cramer, Assoc. AIA will give an overview of the opportunities and challenges involved in adapting historic buildings into apartments for seniors and will take a deep dive into a newly completed historic renovation project located in Paris, IL. The project involved converting a historic high school, built in 1909, into 40 apartments for lower-income seniors. They discuss the historic tax credit process and the specific design challenges that the historic requirements posed for the project. The architects will also take a virtual tour through the completed project, now in the early stages of occupancy.
