Pella Crafted Luxury showroom

Chicago, Illinois / United States of America

The Pella Crafted Luxury Showroom, on the first floor of Chicago's Merchandise Mart, is Pella's reentry into the high end custom residentail window market, intended to display their custom window capabilities.

The existing 7,000 square foot space has 20 foot high exterior window on two sides offering a unique opportunity. Rather than creating window displays that offer only interior views, we built out the perimeter walls and installed tall display windows on the East and South sides with "urban" views out to the city. The West demising wall was also built out for the display of windows. Here the views are of 20 foot high black and white photomurals,"rural" views of landscapes and gardens. The center of the space was envisioned as a "street" with doors to a series of furnished residental rooms. This central space is used for movable window displays and as an event space for receptions and design lectures co-sponsored with the AIA, ICAA and the SAH. At the front of the showroom a curving wall leads to the reception desk and a glass enclosed conference room is opposite of it. Adjacent to the reception desk is a cafe serving cappuccino and pastries from a display kitchen with see through cabinets treated as windows.
