United Airlines Club and Global First Lounge

The United Airlines Club and Global First Lounge at Heathrow International Airport’s new Terminal 2 began with a clear focus: creatively deliver first-of-its-kind, iconic, and uniquely United spaces that offer the utmost in customer experience. Conceptually, the designer approached the project from a hospitality standpoint, designing a series of spaces that offered customers many opportunities to feel at home while away from home, and creating distinct and comfortable vignettes to contain time.
Building on the concept of containing time, the designer shaped the space into three zones using timepieces, their vessels, and their associated intricate detail and precision. The United Club features signature furniture pieces, vintage aviation artwork, and sculpted organic installations. The Refresh Suites provide high-end, spa-quality shower facilities. The United Global First Lounge offers private phone suites; a chef-prepared menu; and detailed bronze, stone, and eucalyptus wood features throughout. This space culminates in a modern English Tea Lounge with an oversized Big Ben wall clock replica and a private wine room, both with an unobstructed tarmac view. The project sets a new standard for international lounge design by elevating the concept of traveler luxury and utilizing the United brand to serve the airline’s customers at the highest level.
