Chicago, Illinois / United States of America
Sterling Partners’ new office, located on the 33rd floor of a prominent Chicago high-rise, offers 360-degree views of the city’s most desirable features: the lake, the river, the Loop, and the Gold Coast. Our team worked with the client to define a sense of place that would integrate the company’s philosophy of “inspired growth” into their work environment in both appearance and operations.
An identity-reinforcing orange glass wraps the core of the building, marking the company's presence from the moment one steps off the elevator. The perimeter of the floor is left open to take full advantage of the dramatic views, and functional lounge furniture creates distinct zones dedicated to working, informal gathering, thinking, and leisure.
Standing height desks line two sides of the perimeter and offer temporary, flexible work areas. Cork tile flooring adds warmth to the functional stainless steel utility areas, a pantry provides space for informal meetings and events, and LCD panels embedded in white glass marker board walls scroll a program of office information and updates. Spaces that require a degree of privacy and acoustical control are pushed to the interior of the floor and are treated with fabric-wrapped wall panels, wood veneer, and transparent glass.
