Chicago Regional Office

Chicago, Illinois / United States of America

The design of the office immerses one in the creative environment. As the elevator doors open, color surrounds. Interconnecting lines lead to a video projection mural, a canvas of light conveying the effect of design on people's lives.

Reception is nestled within the curves of a steel form and opens into a café that offers a variety of settings. The sculptural form shelters a flexible collaborative venue—panels move to create a highly customizable space, from an intimate meeting area, gallery or auditorium. The exposed truss structure of the steel form alludes to the Chicago River bridges. Comparatively, this space links people, ideas and design within a dynamic creative environment, serving as the nucleus of a living lab.

Studios branch off of this central forum. A customized personal work area solution improves team visibility and opens areas for informal team meetings with access to progressive technology. Enclaves can be used by anyone for quiet work or small meetings. In all, there are 20 different workplace setting types offered, encouraging everyone to work in the manner that best suits their style and task.

For this LEED Platinum workplace, we leveraged all disciplines to pioneer a sustainable approach that serves as example to clients.
