A rhythm defined by strips of light guide the entry to the studio, through a minimalist portal and into a voluminous common space. With a focus on local recycled materials, recycled fluorescent tubes are reimagined as a feature light that floats above a locally handcrafted walnut and steel communal table. Tile handcrafted from recycled glass highlights an open kitchen with walnut veneer millwork, built-in technology display, and state-of-the art plumbing fixtures. Exposed concrete structural elements give a subtle raw quality to an otherwise clean palette of finishes. Raw steel elements, terrazzo flooring and recycled carpet tile are also featured throughout the studio, and partial height partitions create numerous teaming spaces within.
The open studio takes advantage of the abundance of natural light and views allowed by floor-to-ceiling glazing on the south, west and north exposures. Located at the heart of a bustling urban artery, the highly visible space is accentuated by a light stick pattern of LED lighting through-out the main studio, creating visual interest when viewed from the densely populated street below. The open studio and high level of transparency within the space contributes to the office’s communal nature, encouraging conversations and creative collaboration indicative of the firms work.
