Al Hilal Bank Office Tower
Abu Dhabi, N/A / United Arab Emirates
The project represents an exceptional opportunity on a highly visible and distinguished site on Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi. Its dramatic massing and formal character are derived from the creation of a series of sculpted voids at the corners which migrate around the building in a push and pull effect. The result is a design that speaks of bold clarity, simple elegance and sophistication. The Al Hilal Bank Office Tower's design concept is driven by the notion that contextual influences may serve as key design determinants; that the experiential qualities of the building as a place might be manifested in a physical building expression. The building's sculpted corners are internally-driven in response to particular exposures and views, as well as by the desire to maintain a sense of balance and composition for the overall massing. The facade incorporates a glass and steel curtain wall system that offers transparency with high performance glass and enables expansive views. The fritted glass helps enhance the energy efficiency of the facade by shading it from intense daylight while providing even, filtered light to the spaces within. A two-sided frit pattern provides a colorful, vibrant character reinforcing the client's brand.
