Moody Bible Institute Global Media Center

Chicago, Illinois / United States of America

The 125 year anniversary celebration of the Moody Bible Institute launched the study for a new "Global Media Center" (GMC); the joining under one roof of Moody Radio, Publishing and Education. The conceptual design focused on a new entry lobby addition with renovation to Publishing's existing 40,000 sf one and three-story warehouse buildings and the two-story 20,000 sf Moon building. The purpose of the study was to create a "Global" Center that would enhance the collaborative and creative thinking of the talented media staff.

The design created a new four-story, 6,000 square foot entry lobby as a vertical and horizontal circulation "link" expressing a new image for the unified programs. The conceptual design for GMC fit the urban fabric of Chicago and the vernacular of the Moody campus while providing a dynamic aesthetic.

With the significant increase in real estate values for the River North Campus and being good stewards of the assets provided them, Moody has decided to rethink the use of this valuable site. The program is now being considered for a site closer to the student campus in a more vertically designed structure.
