LaCasa is the first of its kind / innovative model in student housing, surrounding students from various universities with the benefits/resources of on-campus living, while creating a vibrant anchor in the heart of Pilsen.
This six-story, 33,000-SF cast-in-place-concrete structure is clad in a lively façade of glass, masonry and varied pattern of windows and colorful exterior-fiber-cement-panels, expressing the dynamic nature of the neighborhood and its residents. One block from the CTA Station, LaCasa has an inherent transit-oriented-development focus activating a major gathering point along the 18th street corridor, replacing once vacant boarded-up buildings.
LaCasa houses 100 students and 5 resident assistants. Each RA unit incorporates a private kitchen, while each dormitory suite houses 10 students with bedrooms that sleep 2. Suites comprise shared living spaces with exposed concrete ceilings, sealed concrete floors and brick walls with views to downtown.
Colored accent walls vary on each floor meeting our client's directive to create a hip, iconic living environment.
Finally, LaCasa has a ground-floor fitness room incorporating green elements such as low-e glass, occupancy sensor lights, low VOC and high-recycled materials while meeting the Chicago Energy Code. LaCasa includes a laundry facility, retail space and lobby-reception featuring a high-quality concrete finish.
