Kelly Scott Madison

Chicago, Illinois / United States of America

Transform a firm that was once a private office environment to a new 30,000SF open office workplace. To augment Kelly Scott Madison's culture of innovation and ideation, glass and diaphanous finishes accent the physical elements in the space.

Upon entry, overhead marquee lighting draws you into the reception area. Exposed concrete floors are used to contrast with the bold accent colors throughout. Bench workstations were implemented to allow for staff organization by project assignment rather than role or job title. Scattered about the space is collaborative zones with playful furniture systems to encourage creativity and teaming among the staff.

LEED features include recycled materials in the carpet and energy efficient lighting throughout. Square carpet tiles were selected to allow for scalability and flexibility and more importantly eliminate waste.

To reinforce the energy and creativity of Kelly Scott Madison's advertising business, staff worked with the architect to develop a new graphic for the space. Using their words, when describing their business, the architect created a wayfinding ceiling graphic. Designed to mirror historic newsprint, the result is a timeless design that draws parallels between new and old.
