Bank of Beijing Science & Technology Research & Development Center

Beijing, N/A / China

As a new campus, the design for the Bank of Beijing Science and Technology Research and Development Center exemplifies learning, innovation, and the advancement of the mission of the Bank of Beijing. An enclosed, elevated central spine organizes the campus and acts as a hub, serving as a public circulation route and meeting space for the 190,000 square-meters of training, office, residential, and research buildings located on site. The spine bridges a road that bifurcates the site into east and west parcels. It also divides the campus landscape into two distinct areas: a forested zone with cleared spaces for public gathering to the north, and beautiful wetlands to the south that serve as the main campus entrance.

The campus' training center, located in the north area, is directly accessed by the spine and contains all meeting facilities, amenity functions, and temporary housing units. A 60,000 square-meter data center also is located within the north area; to the south sits the Science and Technology Building, nestled within the wetlands. The headquarters office building, located at the center of the site, anchors the campus and serves as an icon for the research advancement that takes place within.
