Chicago Award in Architecture: AIA Chicago Student Award Competition Winners Announced
The Chicago Award in Architecture is a juried competition of student projects. Recognition is given, at the jury's discretion, for First, Second, and Third Place and for Honorable Mentions. The project awarded First Place is honored with the the Benn-Johnck Award, in the amount of $500.
This year, the University of Illinois at Chicago's Kevin Pazik was awarded the Johnck award for "Nine Little Worlds," a fantastical plan that transforms the wasted spaces around O'hare International Airport into a public amenity. "The project very clearly presents a critical piece of infrastructure we all know in the city, and brings a sense of place back [to it]," said a juror. "It's something you can see getting built," added another.
