One Museum Park East-West
Distinguished Building Award Submission
Notable for its grand stature and innovative design, One Museum Park East became an instant landmark in Chicago’s South Loop. Measuring 65 stories and 741 feet high, the building’s innovative sculptural massing has no 90-degree angles and offers each of the 289 residences permanent primary views of both Lake Michigan and Grant Park. The sleek multi-colored blue and silver glass façade echoes the stunning setting of open sky and reflective waters. A series of stepped, curved terraces rise up the flanks of the structure, slowly receding to reveal the building’s soaring core, which culminates with an illuminated silver elliptical peak that seamlessly conceals mechanical components.
One Museum Park West continues the pace set by its companion flagship building, as a series of individual towers designed to complete and define the south wall of Grant Park. Sculpted and refined, the building’s elegant proportions are derived from its organically shaped 10,946 sf floor plate. The highly efficient form of this 293 -unit, 54 -story tower provides maximum view opportunities for each residence. Green, grey, and silver toned glass reflect the park and reinforce the building’s slender, vertical massing. Shaped balconies “stitch” the building together with its contrasting glass window railing system.
