The design of the Children’s Hospital creates a center of excellences to support research, discovery, treatment, and rehabilitation for Children. It aims to reinforce the process of healing and anticipates continuing developments in pharmacology and technology. The solution engages the latest in building technology, climate, context, and sustainability considerations for patient care that is consistent with the latest advances in healthcare technology.

The design informs both the rational and the intuitive challenges presented. Rational planning considers functional identity, efficiency of interrelationships, and climatic extremes. Intuitive considerations of transparency, light/shadow, color, massing and texture are directed to the subconscious based on “evidence based design”.
