Hales Franciscan High School Renovation and Expansion

Unbuilt Design Award Submission

Architects were hired to assist the Hales Franciscan Board of Trustees and School Administration with the development of a Strategic Facility Master Plan. Architects conducted a series of community forums with all stakeholders to develop a vision, concept and alternatives for the renovation and expansion of the high school. This consensus building process incorporated the opinions of all stakeholders to generate ideas that were supported by the entire Hales Franciscan community.

In addition, existing documentation for the Hales Franciscan High School buildings was collected by the architect including the facility history, enrollment projections, curriculum information, site plans, plans, lists of completed capital improvements and life safety/capital improvements to be completed.

The documentation of the existing conditions within the School was analyzed for two primary components – physical and educational conditions.

Finally, costs were developed associated to the renovation and repair of existing physical (including site) and educational conditions.

Once all the data was collected and the Hales Franciscan community weighed in with their vision and concepts for their high school, Architects developed a report that recommended a five phase plan to achieve the school’s facility goals.
