Streeterville Penthouse
Interior Architecture Award Submission
Located on one of the top floors of a new residential tower, the design of this penthouse condominium is a response to a full height glass curtain wall that presents dramatic views of the city to the north, east and south. A rich palette of materials includes hardwood and stone, but the real star of the space is the cream-colored lacquer millwork, which extends from public spaces to private. Two strong curved gestures provide a dramatic flourish to the living room. One curved element separates the living space from a semi-private study, while incorporating a plasma television, desk, and storage. A complimentary curved screen frames the living area as one enters the unit and screens the living room from the kitchen.
Designed for a client with a strong appreciation for art and design, the space pays special attention to display of their art collection. In addition to typical residential requirements, both husband and wife require semi-private workspaces. As a result, the three-bedroom condo supports both individual and family activities.
