Shenzhen OCT Properties Co
Unbuilt Design Award Submission
This project is an extension of a highrise residential community located between an existing lake and a highway in Shenzhen, China. The project consists of 1416 residential units, retail, a cultural center and parking for 3600 cars. The site is conceived as a series of layered terraced landscape levels which contain public, semi-public and private uses. These terraces provide multi-level connections to existing adjacent residential highrise communities and are designed to contain and differentiate open space for immediate residents, public open space for the larger surrounding community and exterior plazas and open spaces which work in conjunction with cultural and retail facilities. Below these terraces are vehicular circulation points and parking.
The terraces serve as a platform for a series of point towers containing three and four bedroom units. All primary living spaces face south to respect Chinese tradition. Exterior voids in the towers contain sky gardens which vertically extend the ground plane landscaping and provide visual permeability for a very dense residential environment.
