Interior Architecture Award Submission
This project entailed the design of a 120,000 sf office building and a 60,000 sf amenity building containing employee dining, the main lobby and client meeting space on an existing corporate campus for a software manufacturer in Fargo, North Dakota. The setting is characterized by long views out to the distant horizon and up to the sky. The interiors reinforce the exterior massing and expression which emphasize this horizontality and the intimacy of a central courtyard between the two buildings.
The exterior palette of dark brick and weathering steel continues inside to the campus’ new main lobby. Tall glass walls on the north and south provide natural light and transparency to the entry, as well as a strong connection to the courtyard. In the amenity building, a wood frame accentuates a major circulation spine that links the existing buildings to the new. On the second floor, meeting rooms use this spine as a breakout space overlooking the dining area. A central atrium links the three floors of the office building. At one end, a feature wall made of reclaimed pine from a local grain elevator animates the lobby space.
