505 North State Street - Hotel Palomar Chicago
Distinguished Building Award Submission
505 North State Street is a mixed-use high-rise structure, comprised of a 4-star hotel, residential units, shared amenities, restaurant and parking. The building shares a downtown city block with the AMA Headquarters building (Kenzo Tange, 1990); the two buildings and site constitute a Business Planned Development. The building is freestanding on the site, and the exterior wall is floor-to-ceiling glass, providing stunning views in all directions.
Grade Level includes the hotel and residential lobbies and restaurant, with strong relationships to the AMA plazas to the North and East, as well as Illinois Street to the South. Building entries are recessed within the tower footprint, creating a vibrant urban street atmosphere.
There are eight residential units on each floor, with six of the units offering ‘double-corners’, with corner bedrooms, living rooms, and shared balconies.
Typical hotel levels have 26 guestrooms, including standard rooms and specialty suites. Guestroom corridors terminate at glass corners, offering the unique experience of corridor daylight and views. Hotel function spaces on level 5 include a double-height ballroom with an outdoor deck overlooking State Street. Amenities on level 17 include a swimming pool, fitness center and outdoor deck for special events; amenities are shared with the residential units.
