Dubai Silicon Oasis Mixed-Use Tower

Unbuilt Design Award Submission

Dubai Silicon Oasis is a mixed-use high-rise structure, comprised of a 5-star hotel, extended-stay apartments, commercial office lease levels, amenities, conference center, restaurants and parking. The building occupies multiple parcels in a new development dedicated to high technology businesses and accessory uses. The building is freestanding on the site, and commands stunning views in all directions.
The design concept challenges the conventional stacking configuration of mixed-use structures, and meshes office and hotel uses through the full height of the building, while securely separating them through segregated vertical transportation systems.
The hotel is comprised of 4 ‘bars,’ each 4 levels of guestrooms (with 2 levels of executive suites at the top). The ‘bars’ are separated vertically by 4-level groups of extended stay apartments.
The office building is comprised of 5 ‘bars’ of 3 levels each, offering the possibility for individual corporate identity for each tenant.
Interstitial spaces between hotel and office ‘bars’ provide opportunities for outdoor decks for both uses.
The building plan configuration allows for distinct entry lobbies and occupant amenities. The building podium includes a retail mall, restaurants, ballroom and conference facilities, and a landscaped leisure area with swimming pool and recreation. Parking is on 3 levels below Grade.
