Penthouse Residence

Interior Architecture Award Submission

After living in the suburbs for years, this executive couple moved to the city to take advantage of the downtown lifestyle. The concept of this 3,200 square foot penthouse apartment was to create a modern Asian inspired architectural envelope to highlight the client’s eclectic tastes, various Asian collections, and art. The focus was to use traditional materials detailed in a modern way.

The floor plan was openned up to lends itself to entertaining, while also displaying the many artifacts the couple obtained on their world travels. Some may consider it a piece of art itself; the custom bronze and glass sculptural stair connects the living room to the Master Suite. Hidden pocket millwork doors allow for more initimate spaces, such as the study and the bedroom suites, to be closed off from the public areas. Details such as the Italian Travertine floors arranged in custom-designed patterned inspired by a portion of the ancient "Silk Road" found in Italy add subtle depth and character to the interior architecture.
