Overview

The architects achieved the perfect combination of urban grit and playful wit for their client, an urban communications company. Custom-printed mesh fabric panels and colorful, street-inspired graphics separate the open office space into lively streets and neighborhoods where information is exchanged and life is happening. Jurors liked the bold and bright graphics and the use of non-precious materials like concrete, recycled plastic, and metal. Sewer lids and street grates serve as art. A game of hopscotch chalked on concrete floors enlivens a simple walk down the hall. The design team kept a tight fist on the project's purse strings, avoiding new construction as much as possible and artfully re-using discarded objects.
