Overview

One juror thought this project showed "how to take this kind of function and turn it into a piece of architecture." This 50,000-square-foot facility is the workplace to employees who coordinate responses to natural disasters and security threats. The architects set out to offset the employees' potentially highstress responsibilities with an environment that invigorates and soothes while still maintaining a secure environment. Perforated copper screens and limestone panels make up a façade that looks layered and light.
