The Sustainable Design Award makes its debut this year as AIA Chicago strives to support innovative projects that minimize environmental impact while making a positive contribution to the local and larger community and improving comfort and daily life for building occupants. The award celebrates designs that integrate architecture with technology and natural systems, foster site appropriateness, and protect and enhance the environment. The jury considered construction and renovation projects completed between January 1, 2001 and May 1, 2004.
