Bayer W11 Location - Leverkusen, Germany Technologically accomplished and handsomely detailed, this new headquarters building is home to office space that emphasizes natural light, ventilation, and user control. This emphasis is consistently expressed in plan, elevation, and detail, resulting in a nearly transparent building with a shimmering quality all the way through. A beautifully articulated glass curtain wall embraces the elliptical courtyard to the south, while a pergola to the north maintains the street edge and scale. A generously proportioned entrance hall speaks of light and air as it connects the public forecourt with the private park as well as providing access to internal functions. Architectural and engineering systems are highly integrated to address energy consumption and comfort; the building exceeds stringent German energy code requirements by 30 percent.
