Addressing a prevailing problem for architects across the country, this renovation economically transforms a nondescript, mid-rise 1960s office building into a vibrant and elegant player in todays downtown. Without changing the aperture of the windows, architects reconfigured the buildings exterior proportions with a floating stainless-steel grille that picks up patterns from neighboring buildings and creates a strong identity for itself. In fact, jurors speculated that a shrewd client might have purchased the unassuming mid-rise at a bargain price and come away with a trophy building.
