Suburban Indianapolis is the location of this modestly sized three-bedroom house. The owners requested a serene environment for the display of art and a comfortable place for entertaining. The open plan of the first floor features a kitchen defined by volumes of wood, and large niches for Japanese screens in the living and dining areas. All furniture was either custom designed or chosen by the architect. The jury admired the handsome materials as well as the simplicity and clarity of the plan. (Double winner.
