One of Chicagos terra cotta treasures got a new lease on life as an apartment building in this adaptive reuse. The painstaking exterior restoration included the replacement of over 6,000 pieces of terra cotta, repair or replacement of 1,200 wood-framed windows, and recreation of the two original entrances. In the historic office corridors, glass-paneled doors and transoms were retrofitted with gypsum board behind the glass to meet city code.
