The Shenzhen Cultural Center consists of a concert hall and central library. Loebl Schlossman & Hackl/Hague Richards created the concert hall so that it appears to be suspended in space between the plaza's reflecting pools and the building's reflective titanium parasol roof. The solid core elements of the library's bookstack tower contrast with the translucent glass shell of the its "digital garden", which houses computerized storage and retrieval areas. Commented one juror; "this is a breathtaking building. It gets you charged up and wanting to go inside."
