Innovative design of an awkward L-shaped office turned a liability into an asset for this venture capital firm. "It's hard to make people turn a corner," commented a juror, "but this corridor kicks you back and lures you in." This dynamism was achieved by placing almond-shaped motifs (derived from the firm's logo of a big fish swallowing a smaller one) at three strategic points: the entry, the bend in the corridor, and the conference room. The motifs are crafted of maple and inlaid in the floor as well as suspended from the ceiling directly above. A curving wood wall reinforces the corridor's change in direction. |
