This 1896 mansion occupies three city lots on Astor Street. It had fallen into disrepair and been subdivided into ten rental apartments when new owners decided to restore its original splendor as a grand single-family residence. The task was complicated by the fact that a large addition from 1904 was in a different style from the original structure. The owners' collection of period furniture, rugs and chandeliers is showcased throughout the house. "It has a timeless, enduring quality," said the jury.
