The American College of Surgeons purchased a building and asked the architects to create a space with an emphasis on longevity, flexibility, and timeless aesthetics. The most impressive space is the Regent's Room, a ceremonial space where national board meetings are conducted. Located on the top floor of the building, the roof within this room was raised to create a dramatic two-story volume with a sculptural stainless steel ceiling. The jury praised the cohesiveness of the project with a medical metaphor, commenting that there was good "suturing together of all the components." |
