This "retail resort" has a set a new standard in retail design, using natural materials to create a ski lodge atmosphere authentic to Colorado. Anthony Belluschi, AIA researched mountainous structures of wood and stone when designing this structure. Inside, a grand stone fireplace establishes the dining hall, and artwork by local artists commissioned by the architect is displayed prominently. The building's center court connotes the Rocky Mountains. Heavy timber trusses and wood deck ceiling cap a canyon of natural rock formations, waterfalls and animal sculptures. According to the jury, the careful use of materials in the details of Park Meadows set it apart from other retail projects.
