Student Success Center

A university with 9000 students had no on-campus residence facilities or student center. Much was demanded of the new student center. It was to improve student life, by creating a gathering place for student services and a place where students could interact with faculty and the community. As an architectural statement it was to improve the overall image of the campus, but also be easy to maintain, energy-efficient and accessible.

This project responds to the ever-changing student culture, and examines the cultural roots of its student body. The images that the architecture creates address the individual and acknowledge the multi-cultural group that will hold court in the new center's spaces. An institution of higher learning should establish a sense of pride in its students and in the community at large. This center breaks down barriers and facilitates student, faculty and community development with optimum design quality -- all within a modest budget.
