Architects (AIA) - registered architects in any U.S. state.
Associate members (Assoc. AIA) - architectural interns, those working under the supervision of an architect, those that hold a professional degree in architecture, or those that are faculty members in university architecture programs. Associate members cannot be licensed architects.
Recent Graduate members (Assoc. AIA) - this membership is open to those who graduated from an accredited architecture program in the U.S. after May, 2012. Membership is free through December 31, 2013.
International Associates (Intl. Assoc. AIA) - those holding an architectural license or equivalent from a country other than the U.S.

PLEASE NOTE: these categories require three-tiered (membership in local, state, and national components), and the applications are returned to AIA National, which processes all architect and associate memberships. Each application has the correct return address at the end of the form.

Membership in AIA includes the use of the credentials AIA or Assoc. AIA after your name.
AIA Trust

AIA Construction Documents
AIA Chicago members receive a 25% discount on all documents for sale in the Chapter office and on aiachicago.org. AIA National also offers member pricing on AIA Contract Documents in paper and software formats.
MEMBERSHIP DUES
Members joining between October 1 and December 31, 2012 pay dues for a full year, and receive benefits through December 31, 2013 (15 months of membership for the price of 12). Renewing members are not entitled to pro-rated dues.

Dues are prorated quarterly, with members joining in the fourth quarter paying a full year's dues but receiving memberships through the end of the following year. The above annual dues amounts are effective for memberships activated from April 1, 2013 through June 30, 2013.
