SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Phase I entrants shall submit the following:
1) Two (2) 11"x17" presentation boards mounted on 1/4" thick foamcoreor similar material board. All types and styles of artwork are acceptable as long as the total thickness of each board does not exceed ½".
2) A brief written statement (no longer than 500 words) describing the design intent of the submittal, mounted to the back of one of the presentation boards. The written statement may also be integrated into the presentation board.
3) A CD containing digital copies of the written statement,
presentation board, and all images used in the submittal. This
unmarked, unlabeled CD must be securely mounted to the back of the board as well.

Each submittal must be free of names, identifying marks, or symbols. To identify presentation boards, a sealed, unmarked envelope containing a copy of the completed registration form must be mounted to the back of each board. All Phase I submittals must be received at the offices of AIA Chicago by mail or hand delivery no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, July 15, 2005. Submittals will be received at the following address:

Late submissions will not be accepted. Entries will be reviewed and
finalists will be notified by July 22nd.

CHECK OUT PHASE I FINALISTS HERE JULY 22

Entrants who are invited to continue to Phase II shall build a
full-scale model of the design represented in Phase I. Phase II
entrants will receive a $200.00 stipend from the Young Architect's Forum to support the building of these full-scale models. More information will be available to Phase II finalists after the close of Phase I.

ELIGIBILITY

The competition is open to all individuals and teams alike. Architecture and design firms, students of art/architecture/design, design studios, and similar organizations are encouraged to participate, although a background in architecture or design is not required. Multiple entries will be accepted, however, only one entry per registration will be allowed.

AWARDS AND STIPENDS

A stipend of $200.00 will be awarded to each team that advances to Phase II to assist with design-build fees.

First Place $1,500.00

Second Place $1,000.00
